On November 1, 2023, the "2023 Oil and Gas Pipeline Network Development Conference and Safety Operation and Digital Application Technology Forum", hosted by the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Engineering Research Association, was grandly held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. The successful holding of this conference aims to better promote the energy revolution, improve the energy production, supply, storage and sales system, accelerate the construction of oil and gas reserve facilities, build a smart energy system, and achieve high-quality development of the oil and gas industry; Building a complementary and collaborative development pattern of "wind, light, gas, and storage", promoting the consumption of clean energy, building a green pipeline transportation service system, promoting cutting-edge technology research and development in various media storage and transportation, and providing a sustainable and shareable communication platform.

In recent years, with the growth of China's oil and gas consumption and import volume, the scale of oil and gas pipeline networks has been continuously expanded, the construction and operation level have been greatly improved, the infrastructure network has been basically formed, the resource import channels have initially formed, the pipeline transportation scale has been continuously improved, the coverage rate of natural gas pipelines has been continuously increased, and the oil and gas reserves and emergency peak shaving system have been preliminarily established. National oil and gas pipelines are connected for storage and transportation. The pattern of service production and sales has been formed, and the general technology and equipment have reached the international advanced level. In pipeline construction, new processes, materials, technologies, and equipment are emerging, and monitoring and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and modern communication technologies are widely used in operation scheduling, greatly improving the level of intelligence and networking. The design, construction, and equipment manufacturing technologies for large-diameter and high-pressure pipelines are becoming increasingly mature, and the level of autonomy in major materials and key equipment such as high-grade steel pipes, automatic welding equipment, and large compressor units is constantly improving.  

During the 14th Five Year Plan period, China has entered the third stage of rapid development of gas pipeline network facilities. The layout of crude oil pipeline network has gradually improved, the service level of finished oil pipeline network has continuously improved, the construction of natural gas trunk pipeline network has accelerated, the level of strict coverage of branch pipelines has significantly improved, and the interconnection of oil and gas pipeline network facilities has become more efficient and smooth. The efficiency of pipeline operation has significantly improved, entering a new stage of high-quality development.
